Zadig&Voltaire is a French ready-to-wear brand that was launched in 1997 by Thierry Gillier, whose grandfather was the founder of everyone's favorite little crocodile-stamped polo shirts: Lacoste. Thierry Gillier's passion for literature prompted him to name his brand in a tribute to Voltaire, and his opus Zadig Or The Book Of Fate. Zadig&Voltaire's trademark style is edgy, grungy, relaxed and trend-led. Originally aimed at women, the brand branched out in the 2000s and designed collections for men and children as well as a line of fragrances and leather goods. The Zadig&Voltaire look is fashion-forward and stylish, but wearable and luxurious too - on-trend but never stuffy or buttoned-up, and all with an off-beat twist. The brand is renowned for materials such as silk and cashmere, pairing these luxury fabrics with edgy cuts and vibrant shades. It is also known for its artful use of black and fine details.
