The origins of Rue de Tokyo

Founded in 2017 by David Andersson Sahlin, Rue de Tokyo was born out of his frustration with the fashion industry, where the most exceptional textiles often don't reach the market due to profit margins. Having grown up in the Swedish countryside, David was influenced by his mother's art and his father's antique furniture collection. After studying international business and working at the luxury house Damir Doma in Paris, he developed a passion for exceptional textiles, especially those from Japan. Inspired by his stays in Paris, Florence, and Copenhagen, as well as his travels in Japan, he decided to create his own brand, Rue de Tokyo.

Rue de Tokyo stands out for its exclusive use of natural and organic materials, selecting some of the finest textiles in the world to ensure ultimate comfort. The brand draws inspiration from Japan's unparalleled attention to detail and pursuit of perfection, as well as France's commitment to craftsmanship and respect for the arts. This unique combination is reflected in products designed for modern nomads, blending Parisian classicism with the beauty of Japanese materials.
