After the initial firing of the clay at low temperature, reactive glazes are applied to the stoneware, giving it a shiny appearance and a gradient of colors. The ceramic pieces are then immersed in water when they come out of the kiln, creating a thermal shock that results in the desired crackled effect.
The MAGMA collection draws its inspiration from the heart of the volcanic crater of Mount Fuji in Japan. In its MENTHE variation, the vein network mimics the craters, showcasing the thermal depression resulting from the firing technique, similar to how magma forms after a volcano's eruption.
