The story of Minorquines began on the Balearic Islands in 1929, when Joseph, known as Bep, tired of his long days of work in the fields, decided to try his luck in shoe manufacturing. He started making custom-made shoes, and his two sons joined him as soon as they were old enough to work. In 1965, the eldest son took over the avarcas factory and decided to make it the core of his production. To increase their output, he did not hesitate to subcontract manufacturing, but always keeping the methods taught by his father. To be sure of his products, he checked each pair produced by hand. Since then, Minorquines avarcas have never stopped evolving, adapting to current demands and trends, increasing their range of models and colours. Today, the business is still family-run, and it is the grandson Amalio who manages the company. He has managed to retain the traditional spirit and know-how taught by his grandfather. But it was the meeting with the French designer Anne Savajol that led to the worldwide expansion of this typical island sandal. Find the light and modern sandal, perfect for your feet in our selections available now at Place des Tendances. Also find Minorquines private sales regularly on Place des Tendances.
