After an initial firing of the clay at low temperature, reactive glazes are applied to the stoneware, giving it a shiny appearance and a gradient of colors. The ceramic pieces are dipped in water as they come out of the kiln, creating a thermal shock that results in the desired crackled effect.
The MAGMA collection draws its inspiration from the heart of the volcanic crater of Mount Fuji in Japan. In its MINT variation, the vein network outlines the craters and reflects the thermal depression resulting from the firing technique, just as magma forms after the volcano's fusion.
