Yves Chareton came up with the idea for the brand in 1979 in New York and his intention was to recreate shirts of the American dream: the famous button-down Madras and Oxford shirts. The inspiration pays tribute to the heritage and manufacturing expertise of suits, trousers, shirts and sweaters that are re-worked without being held back by tradition, decidedly modern, where style is more important than fashion itself. Hartford is characterised by the quality and authenticity of its products, the sophisticated colours, the tasteful prints and the unusual mixture of materials.
