Founded in 1966, after its Japanese-born founder, the brand is known for its iconic running shoe. The model became known during the Mexico Olympic Games thanks to the Japanese track and field team who wear the famous brand. Known and marketed for a while under the name Asics, for a few months now, the brand has taken on its independence and its Japanese identity. Asics stands for "Anima Sana In Corpore Sana" meaning "a healthy mind in a healthy body". Indeed, it is above all the will to take care of the health of young people and to motivate them to do sports that give the impulse to Kihachiro Onitsuka to create his own brand. 

With this emancipation, Onitsuka Tiger underlines its desire to move upmarket, the aim not being to follow trends, as the director explains, but rather to associate the shoe with a much more qualitative dimension. The Japanese state-of-the-art technology is an asset for the brand that the manager wants to rely on. This move upmarket will be achieved through the use of noble materials such as Kobe leather on shoes and accessories, while at the same time having an aesthetic that tends towards formalism.
